UTSA (SKM): Workshop on aI-Ia NExus (WaIIaNE)

Digital threats have increasingly strained the field of information assurance—encompassing risk management, data quality, intellectual property rights, privacy protection, regulatory compliance, and operational continuity—over the past two decades. As a result, safeguarding the authenticity, integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information has become a global imperative, with cross‐sector collaboration focused on threat prevention, detection, and response . At the same time, rapid advances in artificial intelligence—most notably generative AI (GenAI)—are reshaping this landscape. AI‐driven analytics and automation promise unprecedented capabilities for identifying and mitigating threats, yet they also introduce novel vulnerabilities, from data poisoning and model manipulation to the automated orchestration of sophisticated attacks. This duality positions GenAI as a true paradox in information assurance: a powerful ally for strengthening defenses and a potential catalyst for emerging security and ethical challenges.
This workshop is organized as part of the MIS quarterly special issue on "Artificial Intelligence-Information Assurance Nexus: The Future of Information Systems Security, Privacy, and Quality. For more details, please visit https://misq.umn.edu/call-for-papers-ai-ia
